Held on Friday afternoon in the garden of the Chateau Marmont, the event drew an impressive list of females, including 'Porter' magazine editor-in-chief Lucy Yeomans, celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, Amber Valletta and Amanda de Cadenet.
If the fall fashion shows going on now in Milan were being held in warm weather and celebrated at a major garden lunch — well, you wouldn’t see better hair and makeup than this occasion on what is affectionately known as “Oscar weekend.”
A very large sampling of L.A.’s “fashion crowd” — and we can now take the quotes off of that, as there’s no more irony there — dressed to impress in their best new spring 2016 looks, and many had clearly spent the morning in hair and makeup. From Amber Heard in a chic cream-colored silk pantsuit to Amber Valletta in a long summer gown, hair was flowing and wavy, lips were painted and arms were bare.
A panel discussion ensued, where photographer and interviewer Amanda de Cadenet asked Valletta, who’s on the cover of the new issue of Porter, where the photographer and photo crew were all female, if it’s different being shot by a male photographer than a female one. “One isn’t better than the other,” said Valletta. “But women don’t objectify other women, and are coming at it from a more emotional place, like women do. It does feel different, I think.”
Afterwards, the ladies scooped up their giant Net-a-Porter bags filled with hot Charlotte Tilbury products, sipped their the last of their rose and skipped off for an afternoon, evening and entire weekend on the town. Many clothing changes will ensue.
