When a group of Lakota Sioux Native Americans was surrounded by the US Army's 7th Cavalry and forced to surrender their weapons, one shot was fired, and then panic ensued. 150 Native Americans were massacred, half of them were women and children. The cavalry lost 25 men. This was the final clash between the Sioux tribe and federal troops.Added to timeline:
