Description:
During the Gilded Age, a major labor movement took place. The goal of labor unions was to gain rights for workers who were being mistreated but did not have a voice in society. Some of the rights unions were requesting include safer working conditions, higher wages, and a standard 8-hour workday. Many unions also demanded an end to child labor and rights for injured or retired workers. Many strikes were organized during the Glided age against some of the biggest industries and companies. One of the most prominent labor unions was the National Labor Union, which was founded in 1886.
