the battle actually occurred on breed hill.
the continental army started to occupy the breed hill on June 16, 1775, to protect the shipyard in nearby Boston during the night.
June 17 the American commander, colonial William Prescott, knew that his army was in low ammunition.
he said "Dont fire until you see the whites of there eyes" but someone had to shoot and started the battle.
the britsh were able to take the hill.
the continential army lost the battle but, they showed the british that they were willing and able to fight for their independene
