In a simple two-story clapboard house, Whitman had spent his remaining years working on additions and revisions to a new edition ofthe book and preparing his final volume of
poems and prose, like Good-Bye, My Fancy (David McKay, 1891), and, later after his death on March 26, 1892, he was buried in a tomb, which he had drafted, planned, and built on a lot in Harleigh Cemetery.
