Johnny Depp shocked the audience at the Hollywood Film Awards by stumbling, slurring and swearing his way through a speech. He was there to present the documentary award for Mike Myers documentary Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon.
In the UK Court Johnny explained he was still in the withdrawal stage carrying over from August and said he was on prescribed medications Phenobarbital, Lithium and Xanax.
Other sources say that Johnny Depp was fine but smoked a joint backstage and Amber Heard gave him a Xanax. [Note: Johnny hand rolls his cigarettes in liquorice brown papers and these are variously mistaken for cigars or joints]. Johnny Depp himself accepts he was still in the throes of the kick. In the UK Court Johnny Depp did not throw the blame at Amber Heard : if the situation were reversed THE JDC is of the opinion he would have been blamed.
Johnny Depp further said he was not in a prepared state to go out on the stage of a live TV Award Show to present at that time but his friend Shep Gordon asked him to do it and Johnny felt it was his duty to do so and tried his best to carry it through. In UK Court Johnny Depp accepted that he should never have done it.
Johnny Depp explained he was a sick man in recovery, not an addict.
Whitney H has tried to build a story of Johnny drinking and refusing to attend around this incident - painting herself in a good light as the one that talked him into attending.
