Tenochtitlan was the largest city of its time as well as being the capital of the Mexica or Aztec empire, according to legend the Mexicas left Aztlan guided by their god Huitzilopochtli, who told them that they would build their city when they found an eagle standing in a cactus eating a snake, and in 1325 this great city was founded that today would become the capital of Mexico.
