When Khan Mongke dies, Ariq claims successor Kublai is weak due to buddhist beliefs and makes himself emperor. This causes a civil war, and splits up the empire. Kublai eventually wins, reforming the mongol empire in the east. However, the leader of the muslim horde takes advantage of the war, and forms the Golden Horde in the west. They fight the Il khanate, which is formed in the south over religion, and Europe helps Ill khanate as it is not muslim. Eventually, central Asia becomes the Chagatai Khanate, and the remaining former Mongol Empire under control of Kublai becomes the Yuan Dynasty.Il Khan eventually becomes Timurid empire
