Description:

The new specimens of Indohyus showed some characteristics otherwise typical of archaic cetaceans, such as a tympanic bulla with an incipient involucrum. These observations firmly established not just that cetaceans and artiodactyls were related, but also that whales had indeed arisen from artiodactyl stock.
