maire goes to see kano
he's doing better, but he's beaten up and still pissed at her
they have the drug talk
and he's still angry with her, but she makes it clear she doesn't think he did it
he's all 'james sure does'
and when maire tries to comfort him, he'll have none of it
he wants to go back home, though, so she takes him, but on the way, someone attacks them, they scuffle around for a bit, maire is thrown into the river, kano jumps in to save her
when they make it to shore (those funny little streets below the actual street running along a river that we are gonna call river bank bc i don't know if that's actually what they're called or not)
anyways, they make onto there and the person who attacked them comes down to finish the job, but there are these two shadow dogs walking ahead of him
anyways, maire spots one of the city watch and calls for help
one of the wolves jumps her and uh
hadn't thought through what could possibly damage/kill a shadow/shade
it's very weird, bc it's not really a physical form or anything
ok so maire uses the molotov cocktail zaya gave her and jams it into the wolf's mouth
it whimpers and back away and then basically explodes
there are a bunch of the watch now and they secured wiliam back on the street and bring him to his knees, and he's all 'second wolfie, back down'
and kano goes cold be he knows that voice, and then the hood is pulled back and it's wiliam


look i know all of this is confusing, it'll be fine
