jan 1, 1821 - Richard Pierpoint's Petition

Description:

Richard Pierpoint fought for the Americans during the revolution. When it came time for him to receive his land grant, he instead wanted to go to his homeland in Senegal, Africa. Maitland denied the request, and Pierpoint was given a settlement near present-day Fergus, Ontario.
