Description:
the Apollo 8 was the first crewed spacecraft to exit low earth orbit and the first to reach the moon without landing. The crew departed safely back to earth after orbiting. These men were Frank Borman, James Lovell and William Anders. This crew were the first to witness an “Earthrise”. They had found that lunar mass concentrations were greater than first predicted over the course of the orbits. The purpose of this mission was to assert the strength of the United States to other nations.
