It was created to by the British to show that they still had power over the colonies after the Stamp Act had failed. The Townshend Act put taxes on imports from England. The colonists protested these new laws by having public demonstrations where they explained why the taxes were unfair and boycotted imports from Britain. This caused merchants to lose a lot of money to the British had to repeal it.All of the taxes were repealed except tea
