The Maximato was the period between 1928-1934 in which Mexico was ruled by Plutarco Elias Calles even though he wasn't in office. This period is characterized by an instability of the power since during this time three president ruled Mexico; Portes Gil, Pascual Ortiz, and Abelardo Rodriguez.
