jan 1, 1877 - Great Railroad Strike
Description:
This strike began after workers wages were cut by the Balitimore and Ohio Railroad. This was during the Panic of 1873, and wages were already and work was dangerous. The strikes became violent after militiamen were sent to put down the protests and riots from workers errupted. Although over 100,000 workers took part in the strike and over 100 died, there was no positive result that came out of the strike.
