Aztecs also known as Mexicas saw Huitzilopochtli (in form of eagle) in front of them standing on a cactus killing a snake, so the Aztecs thought Huitzilopochtli indicated them where to settle, and by the time Tenochtitlan was the Aztecs capital. This event has a great importance in these days Mexico city, the capital of the whole republic is built above Tenochtitlan ruins.
