Made from parts of a machine that would improve radio detection of Nazi airplanes. The first microwave stood 6 feet tall and weighed about 750 pounds. Needed to be water-cooled, so plumbing was required and costed around $16,000 to $24,000 dollars in toay’s money. Over time microwaves became smaller and cheaper, cost lowered to about $3,200 and by 1986, about 25% of American homes owned a microwave
