dec 1, 1954 - Geneva Conference

Description:

This conference decided the fate of Vietnam. It stated that they were to split up along the 17th parallel. On one side, Ho Chi Minh held the northern communist state, while the south side housed Ngo Dinh Diem, a democratic side. The United States had their money in containing communism, so they sent over 1 billion dollars in aid. Eisenhower presented his domino theory, where he stated that he believed if vietnam fell, then other asian countries would fall, until every country was communist.
