apr 13, 1775 - The Battle of Concord & The Battle of Lexington (The Shot Heard 'Round the World)

Description:

British Response to the growing revolutionary powers. They believed that if they took down the leaders of this building independence movement, they could avert any of the rebellion, so the British took off to take away the stockpiling of weapons in Concord, Massachusetts. They had to pass through Lexington, where the actual battle took place. They met up with a small militia known as the minutemen. Someone fired a shot (probably one of the minutemen) which resulted in British Return Fire, the minutemen suffered 18 casualties, 8 dead. The British proceeded to Concord where a bigger group of minutemen were waiting and they glocked the British redcoats. This battle was the Battle of Concord, it was monumental as a weak group of predominantly farmers from the new world were able to take down the largest army in the world.
