Jackie Robinson was the first African American player in Major league Baseball ( MLB) competing for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 till 1957. Robinson was responsable for the civil rights movement begining, when he broke the color barrier in a sport that had been segregated for more than 50 years. He joined the NAACP after his retirement in 1957 and was an civil rights movement activist.
