Born in Athens and is one of the earlier philosophers / taught many other influential figures like Plato and Xenophon and was respected enough to be written about by Aristotle and Aristophanes / his most influential creation is the Socratic method, a system of thought where one is encouraged to break down a problem by relentlessly questioning it. This process is a defining element of American Law, Cognitive behavioral therapy, and Science as a whole / despite his massive impact on our world, he made no writings and there are no straight histories of his life, rather many philosophical and dramatic texts that often exaggerate his character / Socrates method of teaching (relentless questions of other Athenian citizens—willing or not) led to him being convicted of corrupting the youth, and he was forced to drink hemlock poison.
