This was Walt Whitman's first edition to Leaves of Grass. The Leaves of Grass are twelve poems which were write in bold new style. All of the readers were surprised by the subject and style that these poems had. Even Ralph Waldo Emerson congratulated him saying that was just,"the beginning of a great career."
