feb 3, 1870 - 15th Amendment Passed
Description:
Voting discrimination based upon race was federally prohibited. the passing of the 15th Amendment which granted black men the right to vote. The right to vote is one of the foundational aspects that this country was founded on. The whole idea that this country was founded upon is democracy, so for black men, gaining the right to vote was, in a way, white America acknowledging them as actual humans. However, just because they legally gained voting rights, they were still prohibited from exercising that right due to the many loopholes that were put in place by southern officials who were still in power.
