Description:

Led by Hōne Te Kāuru Taiapa, Te Whare Rūnunga was presented to the nation by Māori Members of Parliament, Tau Henare and Apirana Ngata. Carved in Mōtatau, the whare doesn’t follow a traditional format of a single tūpuna (ancestral) whare but threads in the various tribal styles from different iwi from across the country. This whare was also carved by wāhine.
