Description:

Sputnik’s launch was the start of the space age and the space race. The Sputnik was the first artificial satellite to be launched into space. The satellite itself was not very remarkable, but the event sparked great political, military, and scientific change. America was convinced that they were ahead in the space race, but after seeing Sputnik NASA was founded. The U.S. and the U.S.S.R. began a race to see who could send a man to space first. The United States land a man on the moon 12 years later.
