Description:
He was the 16th President of the US who helped free slaves within the Confederacy. He was assassinated and Andrew Johnson came in charge. The Reconstruction was his idea in the first place, therefore he is important to the Reconstruction. His original plan for the Reconstruction was to reintegrate the Confederate states into the union but when he was assassinated the entire direction of the Reconstruction was changed.Added to timeline:
