Description:
The Sioux Indians left the bounds of their reservation in protest of Sitting Bull's death. they gathered for the Ghost Dance. The U.S. 7th Cavalry, coming to stop them saw this ritual and mistook it for an extremely violent act against them. The surrounded the tribe and demanded they surrender their weapons, then proceeded to fire into the people. 300 men, women, and children were murdered with 25 U.S. casualties. This put a virtual end to Indian resistance.
