jan 1, 1964 - Civil Rights Act of 1964

Description:

President Johnson signed into law the Civil Rights Act and one year late the National Voting Rights Act in 1965. Together, these two acts outlawed discrimination against blacks, ending desegregation and ended disenfranchisement by making discriminatory voting practices illegal. The Civil Rights Act banned discrimination in all public accommodations and employment and increased federal enforcement of desegregation.
