dec 1, 1904 - Theodore Roosevelt’s Big Stick Policy: Roosevelt Corollary to Monroe Doctrine
Description:
Another factor of this big stick policy was the issue in which individuals and Latin American countries were not paying their debts to Europe placing them in horrible financial circumstances. Roosevelt implemented a policy the Roosevelt corollary to the Monroe doctrine in which the U.S declared that they would begin to send gunboats to these Latin American nations if they did not pay their debts to Europe and that these Marines would remain at their ports to collect the taxes until they do not have that anymore. This caused Latin America to grow and even further disliking of the US when it came to foreign affairs.
