jan 1, 1901 - Other Results of the War: Insular Cases
Description:
The Philippine people questioned whether the constitution from the United States applied to them and the territories that they gained control over. This caused another divide between the imperialists and anti-imperialists because the anti-imperialists thought that it did while imperialists argue that it did not. Supreme Court cases, called insular, or Island, cases, were held in order to solve this question Which ruled that the right stated in the constitution did not directly apply to these territories and Congress had the power to decide whether it would or would not.
