dec 1, 1885 - The supreme court and plessy vs. ferguson
Description:
The Supreme Court ruled that it was constitutional to provide different but equal rights for whites and blacks in Louisiana. This is important because it reveals how, even in the Constitution, white nationalists would find loopholes. This contributed to the formation of Jim Crow legislation that segregated public facilities such as bathrooms. Since the 14th amendment, bigotry was now publicly enforced and accepted because it was legally equal, but segregated.
