jan 1, 1802 - Separation of Church & State

Description:

The government would not support any religious group financially. Looking at the Protestant Reformation that happened with the Catholic church. And in the colonial times where people were being banished from colonies because they had different religious views or way of seeing things than those in power. An example being seen with Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson who were kicked out of their colonies because they saw things a little differently than everybody else. Religious freedom was still up and about in the United States. The government was taking a more objective route by not supporting a specific group, keeping themselves neutral.
