Description:
Washington sent chief justice Jay to Britain to try and talk the country out of the offensive practice of seizing American ships and taking captives to Britain. Jay came back with the Jay treaty in which the British promised to leave forts on American Western border but promised nothing about the ship seizing.Added to timeline:
