sep 3, 1783 - Treaty of paris
Description:
faced with a larger war the British troops pulled out of Philadelphia and set their base of operations in New York. In a campaign led by Clark the Patriots managed to capture a series of British forts. The last major battle of the revolution was the battle at Yorktown. Strongly supported by naval and military forces General Washington forced the British General Cornwallis and his army to surrender. This battle took a blow to the already unpopular war in Britain and the British signed the treaty of Paris. This treaty would force Britain to recognize America as its own independent country, the Mississippi river would become the Western boundary, fishing rights in the coast of Canada were given as well as the Americans promised to honor Tories and their land.
