the Americans took many losses at the beginning of the war, But the war took a turn in favor of the Americans in victory of Saratoga. Burgoyne was moving his forces to meet with another British force and cut off New England from the rest of the colonies. But their force was attacked by American generals Arnold and gates who forced the British force to surrender. This diplomatic outcome to the battle was more important than a military victory as it persuaded France into joining the war on the side of the Americans. Help from French troops and supplies helped turn the tide of war in favor of the Americans
