jan 1, 1793 - The Institution of Slavery: Slave Laws(CUL, POL, WXT)

Description:

Slavery began to become very large primarily in the South where large plantations were located. New laws were set out to be created that completely gave slaves no rights and ensured they would be property of plantation owners for their entire lives. Virginia enacted the legislation in which a child born automatically inherited their mother’s enslaved status. Therefore plantation owners who chose to reproduce with slaves would have their offspring as slaves as well. But as slavery progressed it became contomary to reffer to all African Americans as inferiors and slavery quickly bcame a extremely large part of colonial societies.
