jan 1, 1776 - The Institution of Slavery: Increased Demand for Slavery(CUL, POL, WXT)

Description:

After several failed attempts to having a working labor system, the colonists resulted in using slavery. The reason for this increased demand for slaves was for many different reasons such as reduced wages reduced the amount of immigrants in the colonies, it was a dependable workforce due to the fact that they were unable to leave and it was very difficult to escape without someone reporting it, and finally the fact that this labor was extremely cheap due to the plantation owner’s disregard for human rights. It got to a point in America where half of Virginia's population and two thirds of South Carolina’s populations were composed of slaves.
