The Bank of the United States was a prominent debate in the US at the time and Jacson did not favor the bank while Henry Clay did. Henry clay got congress to pass the Bank but Jackson vetoed the Bank believing it was a private monopoly that benefited the rich and weakened the poor, and the voters agreed with Jackson leading to his reelection.
