During a National Convention in Chicago, William Jennings Bryan gave out his speech that won the favor of the delegates. he stated, “We will answer their demands for a gold standard by saying to them you shall not press down upon the brow of labor just crown of thorns, you shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold”, giving out his cross of gold speech that made him the Democratic nominee for president.
