jan 16, 1893 - Civil Service Reform: Pendleton Act

Description:

The Pendleton act created a civil Service Commission and built a system in which those applying for federal jobs would be selected on the basis of their scores from exams. The law also kept civil servants from making political contributions. it mainly applied to about 10% of federal employees, but later expanded to most federal jobs.
