jan 1, 1643 - New England Confederation(POL)
Description:
During 1640 England was in a civil war, therefore they could not get any assistance by Brittain against their competitors which were the American Indians, the Dutch, and the French. Different measures were needed to be taken to ensure the safety of its inhabitants, therefore the New England Confederation was created. This confederation comprises two representatives from the four New England colonies. This confederation mostly dealt with foreign affairs and could not deal with things like runaway servants and boundary disputes. This was later ended by the resurgence of the monarchy in the Colonies, but it paved a way for new confederacy and was one of the first examples of Americans banding together to make a political system that benefited a common goal. It also signifies that colonists were beginning to create political systems outside of the monarchy which would eventually lead to a revolt.
