jan 1, 1912 - The Lodge Corollary
Description:
When Japanese investors wanted to buy a large section of a Mexican Peninsula, the United States was afraid that the Japanese government might want to acquire land just south of the US. Henry Cabot Lodge, a Republican senator from Massachusetts, cast The Lodge corollary to the Monroe Doctrine, which stated. Japan, as a non-european power, could not own territory in the Western Hemisphere, expanding the Monroe Doctrine to include not only European but Asian and other countries as well.
