jan 30, 1895 - Segregation: Loss of Civil Rights: Poll Tax, Literacy Test, Grandfather Clauses

Description:

In order to prevent African Americans from voting, many legal steps have been taken. The poll tax, for instance, which meant that people had to pay to vote, the literacy test in which people had to know how to read, and the grandfather clause that said you could not vote if your grandfather could not vote. The inhumane and unequal treatment that threatened African Americans was evidenced by these racist laws.
