jan 1, 1763 - Proclamation Act
Description:
In attempts to minimize the amount of spending on troops and wars, Britain instituted the Proclamation Act of 1763. This Act prohibited the Colonists from inhabiting the newly acquired land from the victory of the Seven Years’ War. Consequentially, the colonists felt cheated out of land that they thought was rightfully theirs. Obviously, because the colonists were happy about this new law, tension between the Colonies and Britain sparked. Some say that the Proclamation Act of 1763 was the marking of the end of salutary neglect, and the beginning of American distaste for Britain.
