jan 1, 1763 - End of Salutary Neglect
Description:
As the North American colonies continued to expand and prosper, Britain felt a greater desire to increase and intensify their control within them. This was much unlike before, where Britain held their distance from the money-making colonies, a practice known as salutary neglect. This practice was beneficial to both sides of the relationship: Britain kept to themselves while still experiencing the economic advantages of the Colonies, while the Colonies enjoyed separation and expanded rights compared to back in the Motherland. So, as suspected, whenever this healthy neglect ended, the colonists were not happy; tension sparked, and a series of policies and laws would be put into effect that would later lead to arguably the most important event in U.S. history.
