mar 6, 1857 - Dred Scott v. Sanford
Description:
Dred Scott was a slave who lived with his owner in a free state before going back to Missouri, which was a slave state. Scott argued that since he had lived in a slave state, he was entitled to emancipation. But, the court decided differently. They stated that, no black, free or slave was able to claim to be a citizen. So therefore, they were not able to petition for their freedom.
