sep 4, 1828 - Revolution of 1828
Description:
Adams was seeking reelection in 1828, but the Jacksonians were ready and were going to use the discontent of the southerners to their advantage. Rather than going to parades to campaign, the Jacksonians smeared President Adams reputation saying his wife was born out of wedlock, while supporters of Adams claimed Jacksons wife had committed adultery. The mudslinging of these campaigns attracted the most attention and increased voter turnout. Jackson ended up winning the Presidency securing the votes in the Western states.
