nov 30, 1938 - The Communist Party goes on strike in the Third French Republic
Description:
The French public was suffering extreme levels of demoralisation and the only difference between them and the UK is that the fight had not even begun.
On November 30th 1938, the French Communist Party, which are one of the largest and influental political parties in France, pushed for strike action against new working regulations and most importantly, they were against the war.
The Communists deemed this war would once again bring death for millions of young Frenchmen, just like the past World War.
These protests were popular with the French populace and this forced the Government to take on a more radical approach against the Communists.
The French Government banned the party for undermining the struggle against the German Reich.
This action would divide the country even further.
What the UK and their Government had not accounted for in France was that while they may be thankful for the French Army, they should not have been thankful for the French soldiers.
But of course, in hindsight, these things are always obvious which is what the Allies would soon find out.
