Description:

The purpose of the Berlin Wall was to keep the fascists from entering Berlin and it acted as the “Iron Curtain” from Churchill’s speech. This wall separated East and Western Germany and it separated the communist and capitalist areas of Germany. This impacted the Cold War because it further increased tension between the soviets and the Western Allies because it symbolized the lack of freedom in a communist country.
