Description:
The Soviets launched their first artificial satellite, Sputnik, into space in order to measure the density of the atmosphere. During this time, the Soviets and the U.S. were also in a “space race”, which was a series of technological advancements between the U.S. and the Soviets. The invention of Sputnik also raised tensions between the U.S. and the Soviets because they were both competing to develop better technology in their “space race.”
